The State of AI Innovation: Learn How 500 IT Leaders and Practitioners View AI in Their Organizations
The pace of AI innovation is breathtaking. At DataStax, we firmly believe that AI provides the opportunity to drive serious productivity gains and create novel customer experiences that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago.
The technology is here right now to enable organizations to infuse the power of AI into their processes and products, and many executives, managers, and developers we’ve spoken with are keen to put these tools to work.
But we wanted to find out more about exactly how enterprises rely on AI for productivity, what challenges they face, and which tools and technologies they trust to drive innovation. So in September, we surveyed over 500 IT leaders and practitioners to learn more about how they felt about the use of AI in their organizations, their everyday work, and their careers.
Here’s a sampling of what we learned:
- Developers are leaning on AI for productivity 55% of respondents across all AI maturity levels say they use generative AI tools to help them code. Among the “AI leaders” in particular, that figure is even higher: 67.5%.
- Generative AI app-building know-how isn’t a hurdle When it comes specifically to Gen AI applications, overall more than half of all respondents express confidence they have the knowledge and skills to build these apps.
- AI is a career booster, not a threat Overall, only 1.9% of respondents say they viewed AI as a “significant threat” to the future of their careers; a majority of leaders (61%) say they believed AI would “greatly enhance” their careers or create new opportunities.
- For advanced companies, working with cutting-edge AI tools is critical The largest percentage of organizations with the most mature AI programs choose the Apache Cassandra® vector database as a technology that is foundational to their AI efforts (Cassandra was tied for first place with ChatGPT 3.5/4 at 49%).
