Gear up for Apache Cassandra 4.0 at Accelerate
After 2+ years of hard work from the community, Apache Cassandra 4.0 is in the final stages of testing for official release. As the biggest gathering of Cassandra professionals since the last major release (3.0), DataStax Accelerate represents a great opportunity to get caught up on what’s been happening in the project - straight from the committers and experts implementing these changes and the power users who are pushing the limits of this highly scalable database even further.
Nate McCall, Apache Cassandra Project Chair, will set the tone for us in his Technical Keynote on Thursday morning, as he walks us through the highlights of the 4.0 release and updates on the Cassandra community.
Building on Nate’s talk, I’m excited to be hosting an “Innovating with Apache Cassandra” track dedicated entirely to the open source project, where we’ll dig deeper into key features of the upcoming release:
- Vinay Chella of Netflix will share his insights in two full-length talks on 4.0 features including safer restarts as well as the new query logging framework
- Cassandra committer Dinesh Joshi will dig into 4.0 features such as virtual tables and audit logging (see also this Apache Cassandra blog post)
- Alexander Dejanovski of The Last Pickle will give us a deeper look at repair improvements in Cassandra 4.0
- Yuki Morishita of DataStax will show us how to use the new change data capture feature
In addition to these talks, the rest of the “Innovating with Apache Cassandra” track features companies like Yahoo Japan, T-Mobile, Instagram, Bloomberg and The Last Pickle sharing their latest and greatest Cassandra tools, advice on supporting Cassandra as a platform within enterprises, best practices for performance tuning, and more. And that’s just one track!
Make sure you don’t miss this unique opportunity to rub shoulders with these heavy hitters in the world of distributed database technology. Looking forward to seeing you there!
