Building Momentum with Goldman Sachs

I am SUPER excited to announce a new investment in DataStax from Goldman Sachs. This is great validation of the massive market opportunity, DataStax’s approach, and our vision for the future of data.

We are focused on helping every enterprise and developer build and run modern data apps on any cloud with the world’s most scalable database: Apache Cassandra™. This new funding is confirmation that our open data stack is delivering unique and compelling value in a rapidly growing market.

Goldman Sachs managing director Holger Staude, who has joined the DataStax board of directors, said it best: “Enterprises everywhere are grappling with the challenges of managing large amounts of unstructured data. In the last year, we have been deeply focused on serving developers and enterprises in an effort to decrease their rising data costs and increase developer productivity. One of the milestones we’re most excited about is our new serverless Cassandra-compatible offering: DataStax Astra. The first and only open, multi-cloud database-as-a service, Astra builds on Cassandra and introduces a modern, microservices-based architecture for “pay-as-you-go” data consumption. Astra is a game-changer that provides a level of innovation and freedom that is truly unmatched.

While we’ve been cash flow positive, we will use the new investment to continue aggressively growing our sales and marketing teams, scale globally, and double down on Astra, event streaming, and our other offerings. We’ll keep building on our strong foundation to offer the open data stack for the future—one that’s Kubernetes-based, developer-ready, and cloud-delivered. Our short- and long-term goals are the same: deliver products that developers love and that change the trajectory of enterprises that they work for.
